The Brisbane Catholic Education community is mourning the loss of Dr. Sally Towns, who passed away following a courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Towns devoted more than 30 years of service to Catholic education, building a legacy defined by warmth, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to helping young people thrive. During her four years as Executive Director of Brisbane Catholic Education, she led 146 schools with vision and purpose, earning admiration from colleagues, teachers, students, and families alike.
Those who worked alongside Dr. Towns describe her as an inspiring and compassionate leader who approached her work with humility, faith, and genuine care for others. She was deeply committed to ensuring every student had access to high-quality, inclusive, and faith-filled education, and she consistently championed opportunities for growth, learning, and belonging across the BCE community.
